Had a great time at the beach - girls weekend is fun!

We had a great time at the lovely Sanderling Cottage. The weather could have cooperated but all in all a fun time with good food and good friends was had by each of us. Now that the weather is starting to finally cool off and fall is in the air it's lovely to look back and reflect on how nice it is to have such nice friends. Thanks ladies!

Oh my, it's hot!

It's 92 degrees today...where is fall hiding? I should not complain, it will be winter soon enough. I actually hope the warmer weather lasts just one more week so that the annual girl's beach weekend is warm and sunny. This year there won't be a pool to play in but there sure will still be a big, blue ocean. What a lovely way to spend time with one's friends. Lot's of long talks and long walks and great movies. Throw in a lot of good food and some wine...ah, who could ask for more?

Bring it on, Hanna!

It's a good day to bake cupcakes if the power doesn't go out on us! I need to buy some new decorating tips if I really want to get serious about expanding my repertoire. I think that I have mastered the swirl – maybe some more glittery sprinkles would help!

Hanna is coming?!

They say that Hanna is on her way, the big question is when will she get here? It's already raining but the wind has not started. She will ruin our last weekend at the beach with old friends but you have to take the good with the bad.

Hope the wind doesn't blow...but we could use the rain.

A day of rest

Whoever said Sunday was a day of rest is not a woman with a full time job. It's almost Sunday evening and I finally have a chance to sit and "rest" while dinner is cooking. Enjoying the golf and the Olympics (go Michael!!!) and trying to unwind before the whole process starts all over again tomorrow. At least I have the beach with my BFFs to look forward to!

As much as I hate to admit it, WalMart has some cool stuff! When you get it out of WalMart, you'd never know that's where it came from. I got this plate holder today for less than $7. I thought that I would spray paint it black but I sort of like it the rather bronze color it is right now. Will have to sleep on it!

Also finally got a plant for my great find at Marshall's - thought it was a good match !

Live to be 100

Today I heard from a friend whose grandmother died this past Friday. Her grandmother was 100 years old. I don't know if I really want to live to be 100. Think of all the people in your life that would have predeceased you...it would be too sad to be without them. My friend's other grandmother died at 99. I think my friend better take good care of herself...with genes like that she could very well live to be 110!

Wow, this is exicting!

I finally decided to enter the interesting world of blogging - mainly so I could comment on other people's blogs. I am interested in all kinds of baking but mainly cupcakes so hopefully I will hear from folks that share my interest.

I don't know much about all of this but I hopefully will learn. For today I will just say hello out there and hopefully I will think of something worth reading.
